Beach blanket bingo!

More cool weather and some sprinkles of rain, but a fine day for quilting. I quilted two beach blankets for a customer that are quite amusing. The fabrics have ladies made out of fruit and vegetables! Too funny!!

In the afternoon, I started this little wall hanging. The customer didn't stitch any of the pieces down, so I applied a piece of bridal tulle over it before I started quilting. I hope it turns out okay...it is an experiment for me.

The trail cam got just the rear end of what looks like another bear in the yard, but he managed to avoid having a good photo taken. Tim says he will give it another day, then move it to another location. We'll see if we can catch a better glimpse of something...

Dreary day...Beautiful quilt!

Today, I finished the quilting on the applique group's quilt! It is so beautiful, I can hardly look at it without saying,"Wow!". I give you these pictures to enjoy.

I'm going to make supper, watch the Pope give Mass in Madison Square Garden, and relax.

Work, work, work...I won a prize!!

Remember when I was making a challenge quilt with the yellow stars fabric? No? Well, I won the prize of a gift certificate to the fabric store! Woo hoo! Here is the quilt I couldn't show you before.
Winning chickens!
Meanwhile, Mr Wazoo has the fire pit ring in and the first round of pavers down. He said it was really hard to get it all leveled, but he did it!
It's getting there! (he sits on the bucket while he works)
He is peeved to have to do some quilting on these lovely days, but quilting does pay the rent, so to speak. At least the first quilt he had to do was pretty!

Fabulous backing fabric!
Not so for the next one! I never heard such grumbling and moaning! No employee of the month this month...
I, on the other hand, worked diligently on this stunning applique quilt made by a group of ladies for the show, and then a raffle. I hope to finish it tomorrow!

The daily grind

Today was a unremarkable day here at Wazoo. Mr Wazoo spent the day working on the underpinnings of the fire pit, and I passed my time quilting.
This was the only paying customer quilt I did today. A sweet baby quilt for a new grandson. The grandma wanted baby things quilted in the plain squares. I'm no artist, but I think they look nice.

After the customer quilt, I did an assembly line of charity quilts for my guild. Just meandering, but fun for me.

Flower meander

I made this happy frog quilt. It has a swirl meander

Feather meander

This is where Tim started on the fire pit this morning. The big white snakey looking thing is a drain.

On the weekend, Tim finished the digging, put the drain in, and started adding the base layer of gravel

The drain goes downhill, into the woods

He dug the trench for the drain last week
Tim used his tractor and cart to haul many loads of gravel up to the site and cover the drainage ditch below the rock garden. He isn't close to putting in pavers yet...more base work to be done.
Today's progress included filling in the trench with gravel to cover the drain, and adding more gravel to the patio space. The ring for the fire pit marks where the level of gravel needs to be.
Now it's time for Tim to grill us some bratwurst for supper!
I'm sitting with an ice pack on my knee and wishing the pain would just go away, but I don't think that's going to happen. I really need to get a second opinion...didn't like the first doctor at all.
Tomorrow is another day!
