The sun came out and so did Mr Wazoo

Today was a lovely , cool, sunny day.Mr Wazoo spent his time repairing the damage to the lawn from the torrential rains of the last two days. I worked in the studio, happy to see him where he is most content.
To bring you up to speed, yesterday I quilted two quilts for a favorite customer, who always gives me well made quilts with generous sized backs. The first is made with a panel in the center, to be a window covering in their RV. The next, an exciting combination of purples and oranges to make stylized butterflies.

The quilt features a serene outdoor canoeing scene.

Panto: Rounded squares

Dark, speckled back.

I like these bright, strippy butterflies

Panto: Fanciful Flyers

Dark, leafy back.
Mr W quilted this lively quilt, and finished it in time for the evening news last night.

The quilter effectively used nice, earthy tones for this project.

Panto: Wind and water

Gorgeous backing, too.
I started today with my BQ2 quilt. I loaded it and quilted it while sewing down the doilies to the bed runner. Both projects took the lion's share of my day. I finished the bed runner this evening, sewing the binding by hand. It turned out just like what the customer drew in her sketch.

Mr Wazoo said this should have been my Corona Virus quilt because the pattern looks like the virus!

Panto: Pinwheel #1-60 degrees

I happened to have enough of this berry fabric for the backing.

It's hard to take a photo of this bed runner. It is 100 inches long by 21 inches tall.  Part of it will always be out of the shot. I finished hand sewing the binding while watching The Roosevelts on PBS. Who is that photobombing?!

I used bottom line thread and a small zig zag to sew the doilies down. It took some gymnastics to continue turning the whole big blue to do the circles. Every doily is sewn in at least three turns, decreasing in size as I got closer to the middle. They are on to stay!!
Molly is showing off her downward facing dog again...
After work, we had a simple supper of beanie-weenie with bacon and onions, cornbread and mixed collard and turnip greens. Nobody can say we aren't classy!!

More rain...more quilts.

Its been a couple of days since I last posted, and we have been very busy. Mr Wazoo did yard work yesterday, and I quilted in the studio. I had the door open to hear the wind chimes and birdsong, and to get the fresh breeze from outside. Today, we stayed in while it poured rain most of the day and long into the evening. Here's what can be accomplished when you can't go outside.

I snapped some pics of Molly and her 'stash' before going to the studio this morning.

She gets out her favorite toys and lines them up in the middle of the floor.

Then she guards them until one of her humans decides to play fetch with her.
I finished this drop shadow quilt. It has some really nice floral prints showcased in the blocks.
Panto: Splat
A beautiful teal batik on the back.

First quilt to show you is my Quarantine quilt from Gudrun Erdle. I made it over the weekend and got it quilted at the end of the day Tuesday.

Gosh, I can't remember the name of the panto. Something Retro, or Retro something.

I got this funky fabric somewhere on a shop hop. It even has Covid virus look alike motif.

My label for posterity.

I got this quilt yesterday. The maker wants it ASAP to send to an ailing cousin.

Panto: Frolic

Mr W did this large batik scrap quilt. Love the colors.

Panto: Retro Leaves

I have been commissioned to make a bed runner for a customer using he grandma's hand made doilies. I soaked the doilies in Oxyclean before washing and starching them. I have been auditioning them on the background I chose to fit her request for blue.

The last hour of the3 day, I threw together another 2-3-2-6 charity quilt and  quilted it this morning. I just finished adding binding from the bones fabric, and have it all ready to give away.

I got the fabrics on a shop hop.

Aren't they cute?!

I quilted the bed runner background, and will attach the doilies tomorrow. (Molly demonstrated her yoga moves while I snapped the pictures.)

It looks beautiful with the panto, Feather Flourish.

You can see it better on the back.

While the quilting was being done, I cut out and assembled the bits for a BQ2 quilt.
What fun I had today, and what an array of things were accomplished. Thank goodness for the deluge that never
seems to end.

After supper, Molly crawled under the pillows on the sofa and took a snooze in preparation for more sleep in a couple of hours. What a nut.
I am done for the day and off to dream a little dream of quilting.
Good night!

Avalanche of quilts!

Oh my goodness! Everyone has been staying home, socially distancing, and sewing like crazy! We have taken in a rack full of quilts that will keep us busy for a while. No time to dally, we have to work.
I'll be starting a half hour early  to try to get ahead of the coming flood, but it will  be a challenge. I am so grateful to my customers who keep us in business during this pandemic. Thank you to all of them.
Yesterday, I finished the large BQ5 quilt, and it is in the mail, on the way back to Texas.

Here it is. I wish the color came out better, it is a dusty purple print of olives and leaves.

Here you get a better idea of the size.

The colors are better here. Panto: Bush Berries

The design shows well on the backing.
I finished sewing my quarantine quilt, and found an appropriate backing in my stash! I will quickly quilt it today, and then get back to customer stuff.

Another quilt, almost done!

I like this design. It is a retro looking geometric.
Last night, I started this repair. It won't take long as it only has about ten places to fix.

One bowtie needs to be replaced and several patches sewn.
Off to work!

More fun on a Sunday afternoon

We had a leisurely breakfast of French toast and bacon before going to the studio and quilting. Mr Wazoo finished his quilt from yesterday, and I loaded my next one on Millie. It is another very big project, and will easily take me two days to finish.

The customer made this with donated orphan blocks. It turned out to be a nice quilt!
Good job, Mr W!

Panto: Featherize

Wild green backing

I'm quilting this huge BQ5.
The garden was fine today after the heavy rain yesterday. Molly and I took a spin around the 'grounds' before settling in to work.

One of the red rose bushes is loaded with blooms

So fresh and pretty

The yellow roses are a bit shy. Only one has begun to open

I worked on my next quilting project, the quarantine sew along from Gudrun Erla. I meant to sew along, but got sidetracked and sewed alone. I made a big mess getting my fabrics together and cut, then made all the blocks and trimmed them. Before leaving the studio, I had all the columns together. I'll sew the rows together tomorrow after a bit of tweaking. It was a fun project!

In the beginning it always looks so tidy...

Then this happens!!

The pattern is called Elvira, and is free.

It was cold outside, and even a bit chilly inside; so we lit the fire and had a  cozy evening in.
