I spent another long day at the machine, finishing up the quilting on my appliqué quilt. I have some embellishments and things to add, but I feel the bulk of the work is finished.
I have so much work waiting for my attention, I will have to put off any more work on this quilt until later. And there is also my pieced quilt for the show...oh dear, not enough time in the day for all I want to do.
Tim spent the day outside in the beautiful mountain weather. All is well with the world.

Fire pit and trail cam
On the sewing front, I went to my group today and made another fun quilt top featuring frogs. I don't have a picture of it, but it is very cute.
Tim spent the day doing the ground prep (aka digging a huge hole) for the fire pit and patio which arrived on two pallets today. This should take him a good month to complete, but that is what he loves!
After sewing, I worked on my show quilt and finished the peach colored border. I will be quilting tomorrow, and hope to get closer to having this quilt done.
Meanwhile, here is what's shaking on the backyard trail-cam.

2015 AQS Chattanooga Show
We took the day off and traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the AQS show. It was a glorious day for a drive through the mountains, and well worth the journey. The show was smaller than other international shows I have been to, but still very nice. My quilting idol, Margaret Solomon Gunn, won best of show, as well as first for her wall quilt. Her quilting is amazing!
There weren't loads of people there, which surprised me on opening day. We cruised the vendors and only bought things for the business (yawn) with the exception of 10 fat quarters from Primitive Gatherings. I test drove the APQS Millie, and talked seriously to the vendor about it. I am on the fence with my Gammill, but not sure I want to start over paying for a new machine. What a dilemma!
Anyway...here is the slide show of quilts I especially liked.
Sewing group tomorrow, then back to work on Friday.

A beautiful day!...for quilting
Tim got up early to get his quilting work done so he could go outside. It was a perfect day for outdoor work, so I let him skip out after lunch and do his thing. He is retired, after all!
I didn't quilt all day today, because I had laundry and grocery shopping to do, too. I did finish the ditch stitching, as well as all the background fill in the blocks. I'm starting at the top again, and working down the quilt. The owl is done, and the big border across the top is done, too. It sure is slow going.
No quilting tomorrow. We are taking a day trip to the AQS Chattanooga show! My friend Kay has a quilt in the show. I hope she won something. She just called yesterday to tell me that the Toulouse Lautrec quilt she did and I quilted won something in the Houston show! I am honored to have been a small part of her success. This is the quilt, in case you don't remember it.
All the quilts from this customer have fleece on the back for warmth. The grandkids live in Washington. |
I can't remember the name of the panto...I call it wishbone |

Mr Wazoo loaded number three, but didn't quilt it. That gave Molly a 'nest' to enjoy! |

Molly has no idea she is going in a kennel tomorrow. Poor pup. She loves to hoard her toys. |
Finished! On to the next...MINE!
Over the weekend, I worked on the big Piece o'Cake customer quilt, and finished quilting it around lunchtime today. I am happy with the results, and the customer is, too!
After a bite to eat...I loaded my appliqué quilt and started the ditch work. Tomorrow, I should be able to start the quilting after an hour or so. Me so happy!!
Tim spent the day outside, planting a new garden and adding more pavers to the back walk. He was happy, too!
After a day of digging and taking out rocks, there are three plants left to be added...tomorrow. |

Starting point for today
Here is where I am starting from today...all the red is done, all the checkerboards are done, two of the blocks have their background fill done. There is a long way to go, so I had better get with it! More later.
Stay tuned!
