It was inevitable! A new knee is looming...

I got a slow start today because I spent the morning at the orthopedic doctor's office. My knee is shot. I really tried to make it to 65 so Medicare would cover it, but it didn't happen. I have had physical therapy, arthroscopic meniscus repair and bone spur filing, Hyaluron injections, and cortisone. There is nowhere to go but replacement. November 19th.
Meanwhile, we need to work our tender hineys  off to get the customer jobs done and returned and the parts made for the repairs. I'll be able to sew the first couple of weeks, but not quilt at the Gammill. I got a good start on the ditch stitching on this beautiful quilt today. Very slow going with all the curves and points to stitch around. The actual quilting will be more than fun!!

ooh la la!
Tim has been quilting up a storm since it has been cold, wet and windy outside. Here are a few of his latest hits.

After finishing up quilting for the day, I made the replacement blocks for a quilt I am restoring. When I'm laid up, I will have hand work to do. I will pick out the old blocks and appliqué the new ones in. There are many muslin block parts to replace, too. This is just one of the quilts waiting for the new lease on life. Stay tuned for more!

Misty Mountain Guild 2015 Quilt Show

Wow! I think this is the biggest slideshow I have ever made, and it was really hard to do this time. My apologies to the friends and family of Betty Jo Gibson for the omission of her photo. I think I accidentally deleted it from the group of photos.
If your quilt has the wrong information card, again, Mea culpa. I totally forgot to take the photo of my own quilt's card! Anyway, here is what I came up with.
Enjoy!

Basking in the afterglow

The show is over and we have to get back to our regular activities here at Wazoo. Mr Wazoo tried in vain  to quilt a customer project with alpaca batting. We have tried three times now, and only succeeded once to quilt through the batting. It is really thick and dense, making it really difficult to move the hopping foot over. After loads of picking, I told Tim "No more!" The customer was very understanding, having broken a needle herself while hand quilting through it. On to better fun...raking leaves!

It was a perfect day for it, cool and overcast.

Today, I worked on a little project for fun. I have a stash of vintage blocks I have acquired over the years from thrift shops, antique stores and ladies who don't know what to do with them! I got out a packet of twenty blocks made in the early thirties and set to work giving them a new life as a quilt.
Here are the final choices for the sashing...

Here are the blocks with the sashes and corner stones. I think it will be a sweet little quilt to display instead of languish in a drawer, don't you?

The fabrics are all petite flower prints.

Here are a few more
We got our quilts back, and I have some new ribbons to add!
