A bit of work...a bit of fun

A short and sweet post. APQS called. I need to change out the encoder. The machine worked well today and I'm a little nervous about doing surgery on her that may not be needed. The part should be here soon, and I'll try to do the needed work. Gulp!!

Today, I took the two left over tee shirt blocks from the Day of the Dead project and made a small wall hanging to surprise the customer I hope she likes it. I sure do!

I added black binding, a hanging sleeve and label after supper.
The writing says:
Lady: Ay, Melona! Don't come near me. I'm trembling with fear.
Man: The skulls make my teeth itch.

These are large blocks, 16"tall and 14" wide. The entire piece is 20 x 32. I used the same panto in a smaller size. Everything gets mailed off to California tomorrow. On to the next job. Two more tee shirt quilts! This time, for a race car driver.

Tweaking Millie again

Yesterday, I needed to put in another plea for help with my mis-behaving Millie. I am convinced she just doesn't like me! After the discussion with the techie, Mr Wazoo helped me by changing the leg motor and tightening the pully for the belt. After he finished, I was able to continue quilting the second Day of the Dead quilt, but not until I picked out the row I sewed before the fix was done. Here is the progress...

Mr Wazoo put on and adjusted the new motor.

New and old motors.

Here is ther quilt without the borders. I finished it and started the quilting yesterday.

All done! I put the binding on right away and took pictures of both quilts together.

Rounded diamond pnto

Same wide back.

Here are both quilts.

This was a big project! I had two blocks left over, so I am making a surprise for the customer.
Stay tuned!

I also finished another charity quilt to hand in to the evening guild. They need bed size quilts for homeless or abused people they care for.

With one row to go, I had to quit. My back is a nuisance every day...

I finished the quilting the next day

panto: Branching out

Backing came from my stash.

Meanwhile, I cut out a couple of small charity quilts to give to the day guild. Simple patterns that shouldn't take long to sew.

Two quilts cut out and ready to piece.

I got this far before obeying my back and stopping.
I may be slow, but I will eventually get them done!

The other thing the techie said was to convert all my patterns to a friendlier format. I have hundreds of patterns, and it will take some time to do. I had better get back to the studio and get started. Until later, don't give up on me!

Happy Fall!!

The weather is so lovely, we hate to come inside! As a midwesterner, I like the cool crisp Fall weather. It has been in the high 60s to low 70s here in the mountains, and beautifully sunny. Mr Wazoo has been trimming, pruning, planting and mulching every day. Our yard and gardens are looking tip-top.

I have been spending shorter periods in the studio, trying not to stress my back. A couple of days I worked too long and paid for it later. I don't have much to show you ...I quilted a particularly nice charity quilt from someone in the guild. It was nice of her to give such a lovely quilt to someone in need.

She did an especially nice job with the appliquéd blocks.

Panto: Flower Spray

I found this double pink fabric on the sale rack in Cleveland, GA.
I also bound it in a different double pink.

All but one row of the next Day of the Dead quilt are done. I figure I will get the top put together this week as well as have the quilting done and binding on! Then I will send them off to the owner in California.

One row left to sew.

Mr W got these flowers for the porch in the back. They were very pretty in the afternoon sun.

I'd like a quilt in these colors!

Hot pink and dark orange!

Ooh la la! Gets my  juices going.
