A personal finish on a laid back day

Mr Wazoo quickly finished up the last Tee shirt quilt so he could go outside. I can't blame him, it was a beautiful day for yard work. He did mail off the big quilt I finished yesterday before starting the mower...good man!

I turned on the tunes and sewed the blocks and sashings together on the quilt from yesterday. I really thought the quilt was blah, so I auditioned a bunch of fabrics for borders until I found just the right ones. I made the back, and got it quilted before quitting time at 6:00.

All I had left to do was sew the binding down by hand.

After supper, I finished the binding and added a label. All done, and ready to go! Another finish for 2016 in the books.

This quote from the backing fabric is the perfect end to today's post:

Small quilts, big fun

Today was a day for small projects. I am waiting for a batting to come from my supplier, so I didn't want to start something I couldn't finish in a day. Thus, the small customer quilts were finished!
First, this sweet table runner.

The peeled back patchwork was really well done

Quilting it was fun, too!

This is the back.

This little piece is a Caryl Bryer Fallert pattern. I love the colors.

The customer wanted it to be quilted like the pattern picture.
It had these ferns and swirls in the leaves.

Here's the back
Mr Wazoo was buzzing along on his machine, working on the last of three tee shirt quilts. Tomorrow, he'll finish it up and we'll get them all ready to be mailed home to their maker.

After work, I got out a quite secret project. The fabrics were chosen by someone else, and my challenge is to make something out of them. I stared at them for a while, looked through some of my quilting books, and decided to make this quilt. It is an improvisational block from the Stack a New Deck book. I have made this one before and enjoyed the process very much. The blocks practically make themselves!
I know I say it often...but, I LOVE making quilts!

A Glorious day in Georgia

It took about four hours to hand sew the binding on the giant customer quilt, which was well spent listening to two movies on Netflix.

Mr Wazoo quilted this modern improv quilt. the customer's first. I love the subtle colors she chose.

In the afternoon, we decided to leave the studio and take a ride in the countryside. It was such a beautiful day, and we had been inside way too long. Miss Molly had her head out the car window, sniffing the delightful smells, and we enjoyed looking at all the forsythia and redbuds in bloom on the mountainsides.
Not to be outdone, Mr Wazoo did a bit of weeding in his gardens before it was time to retire to the house for supper. All in all, a wonderful day.
Pansies still going strong even after being buried in snow

Mr Wazoo weeding along the path he made.

Our forsythia bloomed! We planted this last year.

Phlox in the front rock garden is the first thing to bloom.

The back yard rock garden hasn't started to grow yet.

Miss Molly and I spent some time rocking and watching the birds on the feeders before supper.

We have a woodpecker making a nesting hole in one of our trees in the side yard, too!
I'll be in the studio working all day tomorrow, no matter how nice it is outside. Next week at this time, I'll be in Texas with my family, especially my new Grandson!

Slogging away

Well, I finished making the big customer quilt and even managed to get the quilting done! Tomorrow, I'll get the binding made and applied.

It really is HUGE!!!

Panto: Big Splat

Mr Wazoo was on a roll, too, finishing another tee shirt quilt.

Panto: Square Spiral

Oh yes...GO PACKERS!! I don't even know the person whose shirts these are, but they sure have good taste!

At 6:30 Molly said, "I'm tired of playing...let's go eat!"
So we did.

Some days you just have to run errands

I only worked a half day today because there were errands to run. In the morning, I made the last six blocks for the customer commission quilt and got the rows sewn, and the first border put on.

The quilt is already huge at 107 x 107. The customer wants it to be  115"!! Wow!
Another border to go. No problem making it big enough.
Mr Wazoo finished up the tee shirt quilt from yesterday and almost finished another one!! He was really on a roll.

Panto: Modern Twist

Tee Shirt quilt number two!

All this quilting took place while I was out in the glorious weather delivering quilts, picking up a quilt (and getting paid), doing the grocery shopping and banking.

The Wazoomobile home from our travels.

Mr Wazoo made a last check for new growth in his garden before coming in for his supper.

We ate a late supper again tonight. Miss Molly was patient, but was getting impatient to quit for the day and go eat!

quilting, sewing, rain and laundry

Mr Wazoo did the quilting...

I spent the day sewing pillow shams for a customer.

After the rain quit, Mr Wazoo and his assistant fed the birds and squirrels.

And while the laundry took a spin in the dryer, I started this customer commission quilt. A good day all around.

Quittin' time!
