A bit more sewing

I am adjusting to my 'sew-rest-sew' routine, and am slowly getting a few things done. I will be piecing the blocks for the next quilt for a while, as the pressing takes it out of me and I have to rest my back. I'm liking the slower pace of sewing, but the slow pressing is frustrating!

Chain piecing the first unit for the blocks

Everything is cut and waiting to be assembled. The pattern is well written and easy to follow. It is from my favorite pattern maker, Cluck, Cluck, Sew.

I have been slowly quilting one of the lap quilts I made in Texas, and finished it yesterday. The hand sewing was done in the evening, and I am happy with the resulting quilt!

I pieced this from a layer cake and love the fabrics!

Panto: Jetty, one of my favorites for the modern style quilts

The binding is this gray print from my stash. The backing was purchased in the sale room in Cumming.

A huge box of tee shirts came from California yesterday from the daughter of a customer here in Georgia. It seems I made a quilt for her granddaughter, and she liked my work. (Grandpa had the quilt made as a gift) The tees are so wonderful to me...perhaps a bit weird to you. Almost all of them are Dia de los Muertos patterns, and have decorated skulls and skeletons on them. There are a couple of Freida Khalo shirts and a couple more with religious iconography on them. I will be making two long twin quilts. I'll have a hard time whittling down the tees for a manageable number, but it should be a fun task! Stay tuned.

There are two piles with 25 tees each!

Sorting begins today.

I got out the next Texas top and Mr Wazoo is available to help load it today. Fruity split 9 patch. I found fruity backing for it on our unofficial shop hap!

I measured and sewed the backing, but need help loading.

I got the fabrics for this at Walmart in Texas. The entire top cost less than $25.
The backing was on sale and cost $25. Not bad for a generous lap size quilt.

Today is our 39th anniversary. It will be a low key event; take out from LongHorn restaurant and a rom-com on Netflix. Hey, we're geezers! Happy to be together and still breathing. Cheers!
