Home alone with a lot to do

Mr Wazoo went off to South Carolina today to see his Mom. She has been feeling poorly, so the doctor paid her a call, and now she's in the hospital with pneumonia. We had planned to see her on Friday when we were set to go to NC and pick up Carolyn, but the man wanted to see her now, so off he went. We will still visit on Friday...just at another location.
Meanwhile, I set to work early and got heaps done! First, I added the binding to a little quilt I quilted yesterday. I didn't take a photo of it finished, but it looks great. You'll have to take my word for it!

Comfort quilt for my Blairsville guild.

Panto: Flower Power

All the fabrics, including the back, are really soothing and sweet.
I added a 4 inch wide border of the gray dotted fabric to the linen and lace quilt, and hope to start quilting it next Monday. Tomorrow, I am taking a day off to relax with friends and have a cookout. Friday, we'll be on the road most of the day, and Saturday I will be cooking  our Thanksgiving dinner. Sunday, we have to take Carolyn back to NC. Both of us will be back to work on Monday. We have Christmas deadline quilting to do, as well as making a customer tee shirt quilt. Very busy holiday!
My daughter wants a queen size quilt for Christmas, so I spent some time today cutting and sewing blocks. While the APQS sewed its way through this bear quilt for a customer, I sewed block bits together.

The polar bear is flannel! And near-sighted!

The customer wanted simple, but modern quilting.

Grunge back shows off the quilting.
Carolyn's quilt is from a tutorial on You tube from Jenny at Missouri Star Quilt Company. Its called 'You've Got Mail'. I made it once before for my grandson and Carolyn really liked it, so the plan is to make another one!

This original quilt lives with my grandson in Arizona

Here are some of the block bits getting ready for sewing.

Here are some more...

And a few even got finished!

No more sewing for a while. After the flurry of holiday meals and visiting we'll be back in the studio. Until then, I wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving. Make sure you give thanks for all your blessings. Ours are abundant, and for that I am thankful.

Linen top done and more quilting

I worked hard yesterday to get the remaining blocks done for the linen and lace quilt, and today, I sewed it together into a top!! Yippee!

The blocks ended up at 15 1/2 inches square. I may add a border to get it to a better queen size for the customer.

These blocks were a booger to make! I hope she likes them...
Once I had linen off my mind, it was time for work. A favorite customer came by today with a scrappy quilt she made in a hurry for a girl newly diagnosed with stage four cancer. The girl is her daughter's best friend. We exchanged pleasantries and I said I would get it done right away. I did. Here it is.

This pretty quilt, made with so much love, it should make her feel better.

The panto is called Feathers Galore

Lots of fun scraps. I love the Eiffel Tower!
Mr Wazoo kept busy in the man cave doing this quilt for another customer. Its a Christmas gift.

The customer made it a patriotic theme for her brother.

Panto: Star Spangled Banner

I also quilted the third of the Christmas gifts made by one of our repeat customers. All of them are huge and all are to have hearts in the quilting. I'll get the binding on tomorrow after our guild board meeting.

Big Red!

Panto: Hearts

Bright starry backing.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, I also need to get the needed supplies for the feast. We'll be traveling on Friday to see Mr W's mom in South Carolina, and then pick up our daughter from Charlotte for a weekend visit. Thanksgiving comes on Saturday here, we'll have turkey with all the trimmings with friends and family. Thursday, I'm thinking a cookout would be the cat's meow!

More linen follies and some quilting, too.

Yesterday, I made another eight blocks for the customer linen and lace quilt. Eight seems to be the magic number of how many I can do in a day of sewing. Oh well, with 24 done, I only need another six to have the blocks done and start sewing the quilt top together. Yippee!
I made another of the lace on pink blocks.

This one combines a pillowcase and lace

Another pillow case and part of a table topper that has some holes and stains on the part I didn't use.

Pillow case and big, thick crocheted doily.

Pillow case, table topper and hanky.

Reeeeally thin hanky, and some lace.

Another beautifully embroidered hanky.
The pile is getting smaller...I think. One block didn't get its picture taken, but it will be in the finished quilt. Oops.
The Millie was chugging away while I worked, and I finished two customer quilts for the day.

A Christmas gift for a boy

I love the ethnic turtle  focus fabric! Panto: African Samba

This wall hanging will be flying to San Antonio, to a son who just moved there.

A peek at the back
During the day, Sears delivered the new freezer to the back porch! Its a little bigger than the old one and is frost free!! Yahoo! No more defrosting. We got a cabinet at Home Depot and the beer fridge is now at a height where I can reach the Dos Equis without standing on tip-toes. Just in time for Saturday night pizza.

I'm thrilled it has a light inside! Getting ice cream in the dark will be much easier...

The little freezer is going to the thrift shop on Monday. Somebody will give it a good home, I'm sure.

Beer fridge now lives on top of a cabinet. We'll have the drawers full before too long. We just can't help ourselves when it comes to keeping stuff...

His and hers beer

Lots of room and no more precarious piles of stuff in the freezer. Thanksgiving turkey in the drawer, too!!
Today, I hope to have the last blocks done for the linen quilt. I have a tee shirt quilt to make for a customer. It will be a Christmas gift, so I need to get going on it! Down to the studio I go.
