I spent two days pressing and cutting the pieces for my retreat projects. I think I'm set for our blissful days of sewing and fun in Hayesville, NC. I'm going to make a Bonnie Hunter free pattern, Floribunda, that I saw on Pinterest. I love the way the yellow backgrounds play off the floral fabrics. Mine are a bit brighter, but I think they'll work fine. There will be 63 blocks with no repeats of fabrics. I'm itching to start.
Here is the stack of bits for my quilt.
This is Bonnie's quilt. Don't you love the sparkly yellows?
A closer look at Bonnie's assortment of fabrics.
The floral stack looks a lot like this, only really colorful. We'll see how it goes. I also cut out two charity quilts and printed fourteen copies of the project quilt, Belle Wave. I have made a few of these and it is a fun project.
Here is one of my Belle Wave quilts. Easy-peasy.
I quilted the third quilt for my friend and it came out really cute. She has made a few of these outer space quilts before.
My favorite is the smiling alien in the flying saucer.
There he is!
The panto is called Blast Off and has rockets, stars and the planet Saturn.
The back is pieced. It was almost the same size as the top, so I had to squeeze to get it loaded and quilted.
Funday-Sunday found my son, daughter-in-law and grandson at Bratfest in Madison, Wisconsin.
Grand-boy was in awe of the clydesdales.
Mama and Dechen admiring the Budweiser hitch.
They spotted this driving spacecraft on the way to New Glarus.
What an odd homemade vehicle!
A happy greeting from the family enjoying the holiday weekend.
