Week of fun

My sister came for a visit and we had loads of fun and good food (of course!) as well as some quality sewing time. She made a quilt for her neighborhood to raffle and I quilted it for her. We made quilts for charity, too, and I have some quilting to do!! The white quilt with applique leaves is a customer job that I liked very much. Enjoy while I get back to work! Susan

New this week

This quilt was a real challenge! The customer wanted Amish looking patterns in each block and the borders. She said she especially liked feathers. Voila! Two full days work, but well worth it.

Commissioned baby quilt

I recently got a commission to replicate a baby quilt from the 60's for a customer whose daughter is now having a baby. The customer's mom made the quilt for her from a kit and gave it to her when she was expecting her daughter. It really is a cool idea to give the same quilt to the now grown and pregnant daughter for her baby. I made a couple of slight changes to make the kitties stand out a bit, and made the whole thing bigger per her request. I think it turned out pretty good considering I only had a 4X6 photo of the quilt to go by! Susan

Busy! Busy!

Whew! I am finally able to take a break and sit down for a minute. I finished the applique quilt and think it looks really nice.
Did a quilt in a hurry for a friend's grandson, and one for a friend who is going to Canada next week. Now, it's time for a toddy and some vacuous TV watching... Susan

Back to work!

I started on a beautiful applique quilt for a customer today. It has a totally pieced back, so some areas are really hard to quilt through. All the SID is done as well as stitching around the applique components. I did the leaves before calling it a day. Tomorrow should be lots more fun! Cheers, Susan

Guild show and tell

Friday was guild show and tell day and I brought my finished quilts from the last WAZOO! retreat. I have been at it again, making 2-3-2-6 quilts for charity as well as finishing Jenny's and Carolyn's quilts. Of course, they are done two months after the twin's birthdays...but done, nonetheless!
I have cut out my next project and hope to get started on the sewing tomorrow at our little sewing group. Cheers!Susan

New Gammill doing well

I got my new Gammill Classic Plus this month and I am like a kid on Christmas morning! The old one had some issues and it was time for a trade in. The new machine purrs along at lightning speed, and is fun to use. Here are a couple of photos of Pat and Richard of Pat's Calico Cottage putting in the new machine and table with the help of my husband, Tim. It is a pleasure to use a machine that doesa great stitch without tweaking every few minutes! Back to work now, Susan

Summer quilting

I have been working right along now that I have my new Gammil! So far, it has been a dream to quilt with. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
These photos are of a customer quilt she made from a Connecting Threads catalog kit. I thought you might like to see how nice a kit can turn out. Now, Back to work! Susan

Back to work!

The girls are gone and I am back to work in earnest. This customer quilt was especially nice, and fun to do with all my new tools from the Kansas City show. I don't know how I got such pretty daughters with this mug, but here they are! Susan
