dogs, dogs, dogs, quilts!

We are doggie sitting for our friends and now have four lovelies running around and barking. So far, there is peace in the house; all the dogs seem happy to be together. In the midst if it all, I was able to get in some quilting time, too.
The little orange and blue quilt is made from leftover parts from another class project. I just sewed 'em up and got'er done! Teddy and Toby thought they should help with the picture. Molly isn't sure what to think about the whole situation, and Skipper just lays low.

Back to work!

My new apron

My work apron finally wore through where it rubbed on the front roller of my machine table. I got a pattern for a new apron at Quilt Lovers Hangout (a great shop here in south Florida) and decided to give it a try. I love that it has two layers (yes! It's reversible!) and the opportunity to change it with my mood.
Here it is! All happy flowers and cherries, perched on the Gammill and relaxing after a day at work. I really did work today; the flanel moose quilt is all finished with a moose pantograph and ready to go home to my customer.

Huzzah! I finished the quilt from my class and am planning the one for the next class on July 10th. Then, it was time for work. I managed to crank out four customer quilts in a marathon quilting session, but now my back is screaming. It's taking longer than I expected to completely recover from the break, but I'm doing okay. Meanwhile, enjoy some pictures of pretty quilts!

Fun with the class

One of the students in my class took some pictures while we all worked on the project quilt. Everybody looks like they are having a good time even though we were surrounded by flood waters!

Glub, glub, glub....

It was an adventure getting to the class I was teaching today; the roads all around the church were flooded and really hard to see and drive on. I passed through the water at a slow speed, but really had butterflies in my stomach while doing it. Now I know just how dumb people can be. . .because I am dumb! Four students didn't make it; three were riding together and had to turn back after the city closed the road. Those of us who did make it to the church were hoping we didn't have to stay there!!(Just how far can one sack lunch go?)
Everyone settled in and  worked happily on their quilt blocks, and by 3:30 the water had receded enough to drive home. I was so involved with the class that I forgot to take pictures , but I did snap these as I drove home through the water still over the road.

A fruitful, Wazoo day

It was a rainy, gray day so I jumped right in and started quilting. The oriental quilt is for a customer. She made it for her brother who is getting married. Nice gift! I made the binding and have it sewn on and ready for the hand stitching.

Next, I finished the quilt for my nephew. Most of the hand sewing was done, so I sat down for a while and finished it up. You may recognize the pattern from a quilt I made last week called Off Track. It's a great pattern from Cluck, Cluck, Sew.

With a bit of time before I needed to start dinner, I made another block of the month for Craftsy trying to get caught up with the pack. Oh well, I am ready to do April now. HA! It isn't perfect, but good enough for a sample block.

Tomorrow, I will be tackling a tee shirt quilt I have in progress for another customer. The job is exciting and diverse...what's not to like?!

One week...only two quilts!

Wow! I have worked hard this week and finished the quilting on two lovely show quilts. The customer has been very patient waiting for me to have time to do the job, and I think she will be pleased. Both quilts are hand appliqued.The only fun thing I did was put the binding on the zig zag quilt and finish it up. On to the next! So many quilts...so little time.
