Is it work if you love it?

Back at work and enjoying the beautiful handiwork of my customers. The applique quilt with the bunny was a splendid one to spend a couple of days with; the applique was very well done and the color choices were wonderful. I love the fabrics in the turquoise stars quilt, too. Really calm and yet modern. Then there were the red polka dots and the chickens... all my friends know how much I love polka dot fabrics, and my collection of chickens is a testament to my obsession with poultry! I took loads of pictures of the chicken quilt just because it spoke to me. "You know you want to make a quilt like me" it said, "so you had better take some pictures to remember me by..." So I did what I was told! A good week all around. I truly love my job!!

The lights make the background look pinkish; it is really a cream color...

like this.

I wish the border feathers showed up better. :-(

You can see the quilting best from the back. Darn!

Great fabrics make a simple pattern shine

yummy

Simple treatment for a busy border. I'm learning...

Oooo! This is fab.

I did loads of circles in the background to accentuate the dots in the fabrics.

I love the way the pieced little borders look, and the burst of black...Wow!

a peek at the back

I recently finished a couple of quilts for the family of a quilting friend who passed away. This is one of the labels. Beautiful quilts from a beautiful lady. Her legacy is assured  because of the quilts she left behind.

Quick quilt for a kind girl

When I went to Arizona I got a raging case of vertigo. It was so bad, I couldn't walk around without vomiting and swerving into the wall. The catch was, I was supposed to drive my daughter to Tucson for ankle surgery. Fortunately, she has a wonderful friend, Jamie, who dropped everything and drove both of us to Tucson; Amy went to the VA for her surgery (I waited in the car...couldn't walk) and then took me to the Urgent Care Clinic to get some relief for the vertigo. Jamie was calling and texting back and forth from the hospital to the clinic and keeping up on our progress. After Amy's surgery and recovery, she came and picked me up, took my prescriptions to the pharmacy and then drove both of us home. Well, that girl had to have a quilt!! I asked her what her favorite color was, and purple won out. Here are a few pics of the quilt I made when I got home. It has been sent, label and all; plus, I am 100% better! Amy, on the other hand, has four more weeks in a cast. Sometimes there isn't a totally happy ending, but that's life.

Back at work and feeling good!

It's great to be home and back to work. Tim did a swell job holding down the fort and getting a couple of quilts done. Now, I just need to give him a camera lesson...sorry about the pictures. He tends to cut off half the quilt. Hey, he does a really nice job with the quilting, and he even did the dishes! Gotta love that.
Tomorrow will be more of the same as I try to get some of the custom quilts out the door. I love my job!!
Mr. Wazoo did this one

and this one

and this one

yup...this one, too.

Mrs. Wazoo came home and quilted this today.

I like this modern pattern!

Great find in Sierra Vista, AZ!

The last day of my trip to my daughter's in Sierra Vista, AZ, we checked out the local quilt shop. The Squirrel's Nest is a wonderful surprise in this small city. In an unassuming red metal building is a fabulous collection of quilting fabrics and spinning, weaving and knitting supplies. Our worker from the store was a kind and fun gal who took the time to chat and make us feel welcome. I scored some Kaffe Fassett and Alexander Henry fabrics before saying good-by and boarding the plane for home. Thanks, Squirrel's Nest, for making my last day in Sierra Vista a fun one!
I love this scrappy quilt on display at the store

Fabric, books, wool, notions, quilts...I'm home!

This antique quilt is made from men's ties and clothing.

A view of the store. There is also a bustling classroom along one side of the store. Lots of giggling and chatting coming from that room.

This is the sign out front, with the beautiful Huachuca mountains in the distance.

I couldn't fit the entire length of the store in the shot, but this is The Squirrel's Nest.

Coming home from Arizona tonight!

I've been away from Wazoo quilting for a week and I am really itching to get back to work! My daughter is doing fine, so I know things will be okay while she has the cast on her foot. The grandkids and I had fun seeing some of the local sites and eating out (don't want a burger for a loooooong time...) and just hanging out at home. I'll be back in Florida tomorrow, after an overnight flight and a layover in Atlanta. See you all on the flip side! Yee Hah!
Outside of Sierra Vista, AZ

our day trip to Tombstone

Amy was up for the trip, but 'crutching' on gravel on a slope...not so much.

A sad day at Wazoo.

Today started like every other day, quilting and listening to music. But it wasn't to be a happy day; our old dog, Skipper had a stroke. We bustled him off to the emergency dog hospital, but there was nothing to be done. We had him put to sleep. Skipper was a really sweet tempered dog who rarely barked and loved to 'blow his nose' by tearing up tissues from the trash. He and Molly got along well, and she laid next to him when he was crying after having the stroke and not being able to get his legs to work. We'll all miss him.
Skipper and Molly, when she first came home with us.

Two dogs always together

Quilts, quilts, and laundry

Both Mr. and Mrs. Wazoo were busy this week quilting all day and eating late suppers. Tim is really getting into his new role and thinks he is ready to make a quilt! No problem finding fabric! I practically have my own shop here.
I am off to Arizona to take care of my daughter and the two kids following her achilles surgery next Tuesday. I haven't been to her place there, so it will be an adventure for me. Tim will hold the fort while I'm away, quilting and dog sitting.
Here are a few of this past week's customer projects. I'll see you when I get back!
Another tee shirt quilt from Carole's quilts

She does a great job with her customer's memorabilia. I like quilting them!

Carole's quilts again. This one has blocks from tee shirts and pieced blocks from clothing...cool!

Even the back had blocks!

Mr. Wazoo did this one

Isn't that a fun back!?

I finished this quilt for the daughter of a deceased quilter friend of mine. It is for my late friend's great-grandson. A wonderful legacy from a sweet lady.

A peek at the back.

I wish the picture was better. This is a McKenna Ryan quilt done by a customer. It took three full days to quilt. Thinking of how to do it took another day...I'm slow that way.

There are hundreds of tiny pieces in the quilt, all sewn down with decorative stitching. Wow!

Some of the background fill.

I love this little frog

The bird blocks are wonderful to study

Quilting in the open spaces...and there were loads of them.
