A little detour

I know I was supposed to do the other 30s sampler yesterday, but I got an email from my customer in Florida, whose quilt was next in line. She was wondering how it was going, so I decided to do hers first and get it traveling back to the sunshine state. I have made this same quilt, but it hasn't been quilted yet. Now, I want to get mine done, too.

A slower, happier day

Mr Wazoo worked outside all day today, mulching and pruning...generally getting dirty and staying happy.  I worked in the studio and finished up the quilt from yesterday. The customer made two of them, so I'll get going on her other one tomorrow.

We took a little break to go to the fire station and vote today; our first time here in Georgia. The 'I Voted' stickers are little peaches here!

I had an unfortunate accident in the studio...the iron fell over and made a big brown scorch mark on the board cover and was so burned, I couldn't get the brown off the soleplate with iron cleaner! A quick trip to Walmart and I have a new iron, board cover, and outdoor rug for the front porch.!

After that, I really didn't want to start up a new project, so Molly and I sat on the porch in a rocker and watched the birds and squirrels. We had a brief rain shower, so Mr Wazoo joined us there until it let up. The customer came to get the two repaired quilts and the surprise pillow, and everyone was happy.

Since I was in the studio to give her the quilts, I did the tying on the quilt I repaired last night and got it finished up and ready to go.

There were a couple of the solid ones to do, too. Once I had them tied, I was done!

The back is all pieced, too. Lovely!

 I'd say it was a slow, happy day here in North Georgia. We'll watch the returns tonight and I will keep working on quilt bindings.

Life is so good!

In the studio

We both spent the day in the studio working on quilts. I actually started the day making this pillow to go with the quilt I repaired over the weekend. An added perk for a patient customer.

After making the pillow, I began working on this sweet sampler. It's a custom job, so I expect it will take a couple of days. Oh yes, there are two of these. I will do the second one after I finish this.

Mr Wazoo finished two quilts today, but has yet to take the second one off the machine and take its picture.

I noticed on the drive to town that there is snow on the higher mountains. Weird how on our mountain things are turning green and looking like Spring, yet Brasstown Bald has a snowy top! I love it here.

A day late...again!

I can't seem to get the post done on the day the events happen! It gets late, I'm tired, and shut down the computer before posting on the blog. Today is no different...I will have to tell you what happened yesterday to catch up with today.
I have finished the repair on the little quilt from yesterday, and it was a real challenge! Every time I repaired one hole, I saw another! I have also decided not to wash the quilt, but to leave that decision to the owner. It is just too fragile to take a chance on. Sewing the binding was a bear with the thick and thin batting.

Meanwhile, I added borders to a little quilt I had in my quilting queue to make it big enough for someone to use at the Family Connection shelter. They are in need of bigger quilts for adults, so I hurried up and got three of them quilted and ready for hand sewing. Now, I have five bindings waiting! Guess what I will be doing during the Oscars, Doc Martin and Downton Abbey.

I added borders to this quilt, and  finished the quilting with  the panto Featherize today.

I made and added all the bindings and now, the hand sewing can start!

I will end this post with my grandson out on the town with his Mama, and then back at home having a blast in the bath! Happy leap day tomorrow!

A beautiful day in the neighborhood

A perfect day finds Mr Wazoo outside doing what he loves. This is today...Let's back up the train and see what happened yesterday.

Yesterday, I finished the tee shirt quilt and got it quilted and binding applied. Last night, I did the hand sewing, and today, it went home with my happy customer.

I did a big meander because of the thickness of some of the shirt fronts,  to miss buttons on some of the shirts, and to avoid really rubbery logos.

On the back, I added a row of shirt backs with the ball player's  numbers from over the years.

Mr Wazoo did his job, too, quilting this Springlike project.

Panto: Flower Festival

I finished the front of the latest repair job and have the pieces for the back ready to appliqué tonight. I will add the binding and get that sewn, too. There were a few usable pieces left from the cut off parts, so I plan to make a pillow to go along with the the little quilt.

Here is what I started with. The customer gave permission to cut the quilt down and repair just the center. Thank goodness!!

It may look rough, but this is actually the fixed quilt!

All my patches are edge turned and ready to go. I have made the  checked binding, and will apply it before quitting for the day, so I can hand sew it and the appliqué at the same time.

When I'm done, I will give the quilt a gentle wash and pray it doesn't fall apart when I do it. It is so dirty, I am afraid the fibers will disintegrate like the 100 year old quilt from last week.
For now, it's back to the studio and quilting some charity projects. Mr Wazoo is driving his tractor up the hill for another load of mulch. Life is good!

Hit the ground running!

We started early here at Wazoo, getting a quilt loaded and designing a tee shirt quilt. Mr Wazoo did his job and quilted this fishing quilt.

I started the design for the tee shirt quilt, and I think I will finish the construction tomorrow! I love it when things fall into place and aren't hard to figure out. It will be a nice memory quilt when it's finished.
