A Grand Day Out at the Sarasota show

My gal-pals and I took a road trip to Sarasota today for a show and a mini shop-hop. It was just the thing for a cool sunny day in Florida. The show didn't fail to entertain and the vendors were drool worthy. I bid on a set of antique dresden plate blocks, but I'm not getting my hopes up because the show is on again tomorrow. We'll see.
After the show, we had a filling lunch at the Amish restaurant, then set off to three local shops for some quality fabric fondling. Everyone bought something, helped the local shops stay in business ( we are a caring bunch, aren't we?) and agreed it was a wonderful diversion from the daily grind. Home again, home again, jiggidy jog so the girls could make their dinner dates with the husbands.
I made a little slideshow of the quilts that tickled MY fancy. I hope you like them, too!

Mel2's comment

Amazing Jelly Roll Quilt Pattern by 3 Dudes!

Hi everyone, I had a comment from Mel2 (another blogger) but am unable to find a way to answer her (him?)
I make loads of quilts, mostly from patterns in books, magazines, and free tutorials and patterns found on line. I don't design many things, but when I do, they are mostly pictorial or whimsical quilts for one challenge or another.
I love that other people have the time and talent to design patterns for us drawing and math challenged quilters! I get inspiration from nature, architecture, photographs and sometimes from out of my own imagination. It seems there are so many quilt ideas swimming around in my head, I don't have room for much else there!
As for you, Mel2, email me and ask what quilt pattern you like, and I will try to send you an answer and even the directions for it.
Thanks for your interest in WAZOO! quilting!

My 2012 quilts

I was looking at my favorite blogs today and saw one of them posted her 2012 quilts. What a nice idea! I haven't made any truly memorable quilts, but I have made loads of give-away ones. The last three are my show quilts from last weekend, all made in 2012! It was a good year for quilting.

Customer requests

I didn't realize I hadn't posted these pictures of my customer's quilts until she came to pick them up! Just for you, here they are. Now, get busy on all that binding!! :o)

Peace River Quilters' Guild quilt show

At last the show came and went and we all can sigh with relief. My quilts did very well, as did those of my customers. (You go, girls!!) I made a slideshow of the show, and have some photos of 'after the show' with my friends on the top of the Wyvern Hotel in Punta Gorda, FL. Now, I am back to earth and back to the Gammill to make more magic for my customers. I love my job!

Sniff, sniff, cough...Happy Birthday!

I have caught a beast of a cold for my 60th birthday and I am not too happy with it. I can work okay and do all the other things I need to do, but with a nagging cough and full head. On the brighter side, I did hear from all my family and that was wonderful.
My son and his wife just got back from visiting her parents in Japan and sent some lovely gifts! I love gifts... fabric (ooo goody!) socks with a space between the big and minor toes, a wonderful calendar (after the month is done there is a post card to cut out and send) and oodles of mystery snacks that Mr Wazoo has broken into and sampled already. I'm posting the fabric and socks, as they piqued my interest the most.
Meanwhile, back in the studio; Mr Wazoo and I have been busy quilting and making customers happy. Gotta love that! We'll be hard at work tomorrow, when 60 will be just another day.

2013 work has begun!!

We have been busy here at WAZOO! quilting the customer back-log and having a wonderful time doing it. Mr Wazoo has just about caught up on his load, while mine takes a while longer to do because  I am doing the custom work. Nonetheless, we are busy bees in the studio!
Here are some pics of our work as well as the sample quilt hot off the machine for my next WAZOO! retreat later this month. Enjoy!

Carole did a fantastic job replacing the badly worn blades and then appliqueing the plates onto new background.

Another Mr Wazoo job. Good work!
