Quilting a raffle quilt

I really love quilting raffle quilts! They are usually really pretty and hopefully well made. This one is no exception...beautiful, square and fun to quilt. I started it in the morning and knocked off at 6 in the evening. The stitch in the ditch is done as well as all the colored interior pieces. Tomorrow, I will do the black squares and the borders. I might actually finish this quilt in just two days! It has a black back, so I have to be careful not to make any big boo-boos. So far, the back is looking great. Here is a teaser.

While I quilted, Tim continued with the barn quilt. He removed the masking tape from yesterday and the project looked wonderful! He masked off the next color areas and applied two coats of the red paint. I am so anxious to see it tomorrow without the tape! He says it needs another coat first, so I will have to be patient. I will keep on quilting while the barn quilt slowly takes shape.

Yesterday's sewing was fun, but Stephanie and I were the only ones there! The leader of the group came after lunch to see if anyone showed up, and that's when we learned we were not on the email list, so didn't know the sewing had been cancelled. Oh well, I had a great time sewing and visiting with my friend, so it was all good in the end.
Trying to meet new quilting friends is a challenge when they don't meet very often. The next sewing day is when I will be in Florida for the show, so I won't see any quilters until the next guild meetings. Boo hoo!
Today, I worked on Barbara's quilt and finished it late in the afternoon. Her quilts are always imaginative and beautiful.

Meanwhile, Tim painted layers and layers of yellow paint on the  barn quilt, trying to get the primer covered. It seems yellow doesn't cover well, and is the most difficult color to apply, according to the paint person at Home Depot. After I finished Barbara's quilt, he was still painting, so I sewed the blocks together on the real quilt that matches the barn quilt. All I need to do now is quilt it!

Another UFO finished!

Update from this morning...I finished the next UFO in the pile and have the blocks done for the spontaneous wall hanging I started on the weekend. It sure is fun to have some time to sew.
The stitch in the ditch is done on Barbara's quilt and the quilting starts on Friday. Tomorrow, I will be sewing! Happy, happy, joy, joy!

February already?!

Wow! Time sure flies. It seems since getting older, time flies by at an astounding rate. We have been here full time for just over a month and have most of our stuff unpacked and put away, the house rooms in order, the studio up and running, and customer quilts going out the door. Life is good here at Wazoo!
My birthday was yesterday, and we took a day off to roam the countryside in the car and have a wonderful lunch out. When you move to a new location, every trip out is a mini- adventure because all of the scenery and towns are new and exciting. We went to Hiawassee and Young Harris by back road, and the woods and mountains are wonderful. I can't wait to see it all again in the spring.
Last week we were quilting, and here are the results of that labor.

Mr Wazoo has been working on the barn quilt in the garage. He has the primer on and we have decided on a block and colors, so he is full steam ahead with the project.

On the weekend, I took some time to putter around with my stash and make some 16 patches. I will have three colors in this project. So far, it is turning out just as I imagined. Here's a hint...it has to do with the barn quilt.

Now, it is back to the studio and today's quilting. A beautiful appliqué bed topper from my friend, Barbara. Should be fun!!

Working and loving' it!

We both worked hard today and had a wonderful time together in the new studio. My first Blairsville customer came and dropped off three quilts. I'm stoked to get going on them, but need to do the few remaining Florida ones first. Mr Wazoo finished all of his pantograph quilts, so he is free to move on to something else until he gets some customers. I see a clean garage in our future.
I finished the back of the tee shirt quilt today, got it quilted and applied the binding. I have to do the tan and black quilt's binding first, but will have the tee shirt one done this weekend. I plan to watch the PBS version of Pride and Prejudice (all 8 hours of it) while I do handwork. Then, there will be the Super Bowl...I won't be watching the pre-game stuff, but we will watch the game after work.

Snow?!... Won't stop this girl!

Yesterday was the first time to go to the big guild here in Blairsville, and I wasn't going to let a skim of snow ruin it! Fortunately for me, the sun came out and the roads were fine. I miss snow...I'm from Wisconsin, and we know snow! This little dusting was enough to stir my northern soul and the nip in the air made me feel really alive. Hot weather just doesn't do it for me; I am a cold weather gal!

I'm glad it was melting when I had to leave. I hate scraping windows.

Along the drive to guild, I snapped a picture of the mountains with snow still on top.

I love it! I know some people think this is bleak looking, but I think it is beautiful.

The guild meeting was nice, and Stephanie and I joined. We met some nice quilters and  had a good time chatting and seeing some quilts. I am especially looking forward to the Hugs and Kisses sew day where it is more relaxed and we actually get something accomplished. Meetings are fine, but I want to make something!
