Saturday re-cap

Another week has blown by and we are busy, as usual. Mr Wazoo has been getting the gardens and yard ready for winter, trimming, mulching and fertilizing. After the hurricane bands went through, we have had much cooler weather for his efforts.This Fall has been so weird, the trees are still in full canopy with green leaves and the roses are blooming like crazy. The poor plants and shrubs are confused. Let's see what this change in temperature does.

I have been slowed down by my foot problem, clunking around in the big boot. I work for an hour or so then have to sit down for a few minutes. I am still getting things accomplished, but at a much slower pace.I finished the quilt for the customer whose Mom passed away. She came yesterday to get it, and was thrilled with the result. That makes me so happy.

There was enough fabric to make the quilt a nice queen size. It is a lovely quilt. I added the small pink inner border from my stash to give it a bit of a pop.

There was also a huge length of white on white yardage to make the back.  Mom definitely had a plan.

Mr Wazoo did get one quilt finished this week. He took time out from his gardening to quilt this for a customer.

This quilt looks quite manly, so Mr W took a cue from the fabrics for the quilting.

Now, I'm working on a quilt for a customer who wanted to create a replica of a Frank Lloyd Wright window from the Coonley House in Illinois. Her son is a Wright fan, and the quilt is a gift for him. The customer is a new quilter, so the project had some serious construction flaws that I had to fix before I could start quilting. I picked out a couple of places where there were big pucker/tucks at intersections, as well as giving the top a press with starch and steam to get it to lay as flat as possible. I'm doing the stitch in the ditch now, and there isn't one straight ditch. Needless to say, it is slow going. My plan is straight line quilting punctuated by randomly placed circles. The windows in the Coonley house and playhouse have circles in them. This should take a while, but I think it will please the customer.
